My name is Sebastiaan van Bijlevelt, founder and owner of Galloway Studio. In 2006 I started the studio in a nature reserve just outside Nijmegen where Galloway cattle grazed around the house. From the start it was all about music rooted deep within the artists I work with and making their sound resonate.
As a former art student (Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam) I experimented with music and sound in my installations and performances in ways that gave me a deep understanding of what sound really is and how profoundly it can influence and overtake emotions. All this experimenting enabled me to approach music and recording in a uniquely creative way and I’ve noticed my often unconventional way of working feels refreshing to musicians and triggers them to open up.
Over the past 20+ years I’ve worked on many amazing albums of various styles and genres. I love variety and mixing it all up, it keeps me fresh and alert. I strive to be an active part of your musical journey by navigating towards the strongest ideas.
